2025 High Adventure
Philmont Scout Ranch
Troop 169 has made the pilgrimage to Philmont twice — most recently in 2025. Philmont is Scouting’s premier high adventure base, set in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico. Our 2025 crew tackled Itinerary 12-13 — a 65-mile, 12-day COPE and climbing trek through the South Country, reaching elevations above 11,700 feet. It is the kind of trip that defines a scout’s career.

BSA Sea Base — Florida Keys & The Bahamas
In 2023, Troop 169 sent two separate crews to BSA Sea Base, Scouting’s high adventure base on the waters of the Florida Keys and the Bahamas. One crew sailed the Bahamas aboard a tall ship, island hopping through protected coves, snorkeling crystal-clear water, and living life on the water for a week. The other explored the Florida Keys, diving into coral reefs and experiencing the unique marine environment of the Gulf Coast.

2022 High Adventure
North Country Trail — Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Michigan
In 2022, we completed a 40-mile, 5-day backpacking trek along Lake Superior’s southern shore through Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The North Country Trail through Pictured Rocks is one of the most spectacular backpacking routes in the Midwest. It hugs sandstone cliffs that drop straight into Lake Superior, passes waterfalls, hardwood forests, sand dunes, and sweeping views of the largest of the Great Lakes.
